  • The role involves partnering with National Sales Directors and their sales management teams in all aspects of commercial analysis. This includes proactively assessing the existing account base to recommend improvements in margins and efficiencies, and challenging stakeholders on commercial decisions when necessary. Additionally, it involves providing, maintaining, and developing weekly and monthly KPI reporting to support commercial decision-making and provide direction. The role also includes working alongside the commercial team to assist in the quarterly forecasting and budgeting process, with responsibility for creating and maintaining these models.

    About the Role

    You will assist the Commercial Finance Manager in the budgeting and forecasting processes, covering volume, sales, margin, and distribution points by product sector. Your contributions will include preparing slide decks and commentary for budget and forecast presentations to senior leadership.

    Maintaining and developing the Deal Evaluator models used for commercial assessments of new and existing business will be a crucial part of your role. You will act as a business partner to the salesforce, providing commercial advice and facilitating decision-making.

    Your attendance at monthly sales management executive meetings will involve formal presentations and the interpretation and explanation of detailed information to both financial and non-financial staff.

    Working cross-functionally, you will ensure all commercial elements of a deal are coordinated, collaborating with departments such as Legal, Credit Control, and Marketing. You will also interrogate low margin products, conduct trend analysis, gap analysis, and account churn assessments to identify business trends and provide solutions to drive profitability. Additionally, you will participate in cross-functional project work.

     

    About You

    Functionally, you should be evolving in your capability as a business partner, using your knowledge to contribute to decision-making processes and identifying business issues effectively. You should be adept at modelling and manipulating data to provide valuable information to the business.

    Behaviourally, you should demonstrate evolving leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives. You should also possess influencing skills, explaining the benefits of actions from others' perspectives and persuading them towards specific courses of action. Your networking skills should allow you to build credible relationships through strong interpersonal skills.

    The ideal will be a qualified accountant with approximately two years of analytical experience, capable of engaging with all levels of a business.  A degree in a relevant subject would be beneficial but not essential.  Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are essential for this role.
